Outreach for Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme

Friday saw Gren Bingham and Christine Trumper engaging in outreach work promoting the Community Champions Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme at the Wapping Youth Centre family Funday.

The Funday was well attended by many local children and their families.

Spreading The Word

Community Solutions were busy spreading the word about the Duke of Edinburgh’s (D of E) Award programme and it was good to talk to so many different people who were interested in the D of E scheme.

“It was a day full of fun and frolics as well as an opportunity to reach the parents of young people aged between 14-24 and the young people themselves.  A big thank you to Wapping Youth Centre for organising the event, with a special mention for Lisa who is a pleasure to work with” said Christine Trumper. “It was great to talk to so many people interested in the Awards programme and we hope that those who signed up are just the first of many.”

Tower Hamlet’s Community Champions

This Mayor of Tower Hamlet’s Community Champions project will help to bring the Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award programme to a wide range of  young people in St. Katharine’s and Wapping.

The key element that Community Champions will be helping to deliver is broad outreach to interested youth in St. Katharine’s and Wapping in participating in the programme, and our attendance at the Wapping Family Funday is a good example of how we work.

You can find more details about the Duke of Edinburgh award programme on its web site.
